The Seal of St. Michael

I found this image on the internet, and it's supposedly called the Seal of St. Michael. The thing is, nobody seems to know what it means. And it's driving me nuts! I even emailed it to some professors in the know, scholars who specialize in this sort of thing, and they're all perplexed. So I wonder if it's just something someone made up and started calling the Seal of St. Michael. But I hope that's not the case because I'll be extremely disappointed if it is. I was hoping I'd stumbled onto something Enochian, like something King Solomon might have used.

I deciphered the words on the outer ring. That wasn't so hard individually translating them:

Michael = who is like God?
Athanatos = immortality
Saday = fields
Sabaoth = armies

The problem is putting the words in a context that actually means something. The other problem is figuring out what the symbols in the middle circle mean. They look vaguely like angelic script or some sort of Arabic alphabet.

If anyone knows anything about this symbol, please please please tell me!

  2. its actually a sigil not a seal the symbols as far as i can tell represent what Michael represents its hard to explain but they kinda make sense if you think on them the words to me mean immortality on the field of battle for the armies in the likeness of god

  3. It's pretty straightforward. St. Michael in biblical literature is the warrior Archangel that struck Satan down. If it is the seal of St. Michael, "sabaoth" means army (the army of God), Athanatos means "eternal" (St. Michael is an angel and saint. Saday, "field" which would probably correspond to the battlefield. So it makes sense that this would be the corresponding seal to the St. Michael

    2. The Bible is a trick document from the Caucasus? Wow. That is truly enlightening. I don't suppose you would like to cite your sources, would you? Might be more convincing if you do.

    3. Look to a foundation of a source if any. Exodus 3:15 of the Hebrew scripture.

      3:15 God said moreover to Moses, "You shall tell the children of Israel this, `Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.` This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

      Also the definition of Vain being producing no result; useless.

      Reading this let's me know he intends to be called by his true. Ame instead of a title shared by many mythological ideologies over time . Yet the 6,800 times YHWH appears in the origional word Is replaced and often by LORD God(interesting side note FYI)

      But how can you make a name more useless than to take it away entirely and hid the fact if it was a "Translation ", it would be written as I AM. So what's the real way to take his name in vain?

      Once I found this and learned YHWH is an aspirated consonant until itnwas given vowels and to speak it you only need to Inhale (YH) and exhale (WH) the first andnkast thing you say is his name. A whole new meaning to he breathes life unto you that's so beautiful there's no other person like that could be so pure

  5. This sigil is from the Key of Solomon, it invokes protection and strength from Michael. Sigil's whatever reason they are used for, are a way to invoke said deity or attribute. Honestly a simple Google search would produce the answer, I don't even want to know what professors you asked that couldn't answer or point you in the right direction. Saday represents Earth as the field. That's all I'm sharing.

    1. Completely wrong. That would make it a graven image and they are not permitted. "Invoking" deities and attributes also is not permitted and the Church knows that. It destroyed numerous cultures because they allegedly practised invocation. You can't have it both ways.

      Sigil? More superfluous vocabulary from the Chuch which only serves to confuse. Seal is perfectly fine as this is the angelic equivalent of a driving license/ID.

      The purpose of the seal is to prove the identity of Michael when he takes human form. Michael Athanatos Saday Sabaoth is how it is supposed to be read. Michael shows the seal which then reads: "..., who is G-D Immortal's Field Marshal". (The field-marshal is the head of the British Army)

      Given that won't cover it in all likelihood, the symbols can then be used, like getting your passport out, then getting a household bill out etc until the recipient is convinced.

      I don't think Google has this in its database, prat.

    2. This is a Christian notion only. The Archangels transcend and pre-date man-made religions. It is a sigil, and sigils are for protection and to show affiliation.

  6. Under the protection of St. Michael the Archangel, it gives us the strength and courage to never be defeated by evil on this earth "I will never die on the battlefield...I am immortal and will always defeat the evil forces". This is what the words on the St. Michael sigil seem to me to mean. I just bought one so I was curious too :) May it protect us indeed.

  7. Actually, this symbol is from the Grimoire of Armadel; an old magickal text said to be inspired by the Key of Solomon. However, no scholar has been able to link the book back any earlier than the middle ages. It's a fascinating sigil, and I wear the amulet, as well. Regardless of its questionable origins, I find it very powerful.

  8. Per the Grimoire:
    Sabaoth(Hebrew): Should be "tzabaoth" - meaning hosts, or Armies
    Saday (Hebrew): Should be Shaddai - God the Shredder, or Dispenser
    Athanatos(Greek): is immortal

    Taken in this context, the words would represent the aspects of God that Michael reflects. There are twenty of these words that supposedly make up the Great Name of the Living God. If you check out the other amulets, you will see the rest of the words that make up the name. Hope that helps. If not, I encourage you to check out the book itself and see how it speaks to you.

    1. I agree with Darcie about tzabaoth...that comes from the keys of Enoch, "Kadoish kadoish kadoish Adonai Tzabaoth."
      This means "Holy holy holy Lord of hosts." And that is the ultimate protection statement.

    Scroll down to "The Spirit of Elisha" - In this Sigil is taught how there may be formed a certain composite thing by means of which the faculties and vital Spirits (exist) as well in Man as in other creatures, according to what is necessary for and convenable unto them.

    Michael – ariel spirit under the moon, angel of Sunday/the sun. After God himself, he is almost all-powerful.

    Sabaoth, Athanatos, Saday - three of the 72 holy names of God.

    The four outer crosses - al, ph, ome, ga (Alpha Omega). “I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last." God remains from the beginning to the end of time.

    I haven't got a clue what the other symbols mean. They look similar to those in the Enochian dictionary.

  12. I'm not sure of you are still here as this is very old. But this is the seal of the Archangel Michael that is found in the Grimore of Armadel, an ancient Christian text

    Here is a blog discussing the ancient text in detail.

    Here is the pdf of the text:

    I happen to be a proud owner of a replica of this one recreated by two very talented Magicians.

  13. I just made a blood sigil of this. It was intense. It was also very therapeutic. I like to listen to solfeggio frequencies while I make blood sigil as it seems to bring me into a clear somber state, I try to think positively while doing so.

    1. Not only is what you said wrong, but it is ignorant and obviously not well educated. Your delusion is mighty and You sound like a child. I had one conditioned for me similar to this one and Michael protects me everywhere I go.It's always with me.

      You are right about one thing though. Christians, and particularly evangelical Christians, have NO protection against occult forces. Because they don't believe in the real Jesus.
