Genesis 2:7 Character Sketches

King James Version

God: God is a mad scientist, his white hair exploding in all directions and thick Coke-bottle glasses peering down upon his latest creation. Wearing a heavy lead apron and thick rubber gloves, he stands over Adam with a non-rebreather mask poised to cover his face and pump the breath of life into his lungs. He laughs maniacally.

Adam: Adam is a golem freshly formed out of dust and clay, lying on God’s operating table, a gray slab of cold, crude matter waiting to be willed to life. There is a surgical halo holding his head and neck stationary, with thick screws boring into his skull. Wires and tubes full of brightly colored fluid connect him to odd machines that circle around him.

Complete Jewish Bible

God: Adonai is young, appearing in his thirties, with fine brown hair hanging almost to his shoulders, and eyes of gold, faint lines on his face marking the wisdom of ages, and a kind smile full of benevolence. He is an ethereal being, seemingly there but not, like a ghost stepping from the darkness into the light. A gentle wind from Heaven sweeps around him as he walks, and it scoops up a handful of dust from the ground before it organizes the particles into a shape resembling Adonai. At his command, it breathes life into this new entity.

Adam: Adam is both a creature of the dirt and Earth, but also a creature of Adonai and Heaven, so he is destined to forever walk a fine line between both worlds. But the dirt of the Earth corrupts his impeccable soul, so he is also destined to make a choice: either follow a path towards Adonai and Heaven, or succumb to the baser Earthly concerns in the manner of the animals.
