1980...Reagan was elected to office as our president.
But the biggest thing I know of was the eruption of Mt. St. Helens two months before I was born. It killed a lot of people and devastated Washington and Oregon. My mom told me the blast was so powerful that thick ash fell in Denver. My parents came outside and found a thick layer of ash blanketing everything like snow. I joke that it was an omen of my impending birth, especially since on the night I was born, Denver was struck by a nasty lightning storm.
